COVID-19 Workplace Focus
Organisations are already planning how they can re-activate their workplaces when restrictions begin to lift. Much of that focus is on providing employees and the general public with confidence that they can feel safe knowing that appropriate measures are in place to minimise exposure to COVID-19.
We've been talking a lot with our customers, solution partners and commercial real estate professionals to understand the areas of focus to help them overcome the workplace challenges bought about by COVID-19.
Areas of Focus
-
Space Management - many tenants will likely need to consider consolidation and re-design of office spaces. Working remotely will impact floorspace requirements and which could drive uptake for co-working and potentially activity-based office design. Tenants will need supporting systems and also granular data on workspace utilisation to enable facility managers to make informed planning decisions and drive a reduction in costs. Space Management will rely heavily on a variety of workplace sensors such as:
-
People counting sensors - managing how many people are on the floor at any time based on density for adequate employee distancing. Providing that daat in real-time to employees to help them find a space to work.
-
Occupancy sensors for desks, rooms and collaborative spaces - will provide detailed occupancy and efficiency analytics for wide ranging decisions on real-estate planning. These will also assist with deployment of cleaning resources
-
-
Healthier Buildings - stronger focus on HVAC systems and granular measurement all around the workplace using air quality sensors for CO2, humidity and temperature
-
Smarter Buildings - further focus on overall building efficiency, iOT connectivity, cost control and emissions. Simple ways to make older buildings smarter without significant investment
-
Cleaning - tenants want to be able to monitor which areas of the workplace have been used and ensure that cleaning resources have been deployed efficiently and effectively
-
Other Hygiene Measures - such as the deployment of infrared thermometers for high volume temperature screening. A simple indicator that can be used before entry into any workplace or facility
